President’s Message
June 24, 2010
Greetings to all GLA members,
This week, the GLA had a long time volunteer resign from the executive. Stephane Collins has chosen to resign his posts of president and scheduler for the balance of the season. On behalf of the executive and all the GLA members, I would like to thank Stephane (Steph) for his many years of service to the GLA. Steph played as a minor within the association, he represented Gloucester as a Jr' B Griffin, he coached the Jr. B's, he has coached at all levels within the minor system, has been Webmaster, VP House, VP Competitive, twice has been President and
he has trained coaches and provided countless hours in support of the GLA. Steph, will continue with his role as the Head Coach of the Bantam 1 team this season but we are truly sad to see him leave the executive. His insight and understanding of lacrosse in Ontario will be missed.
No small shoes to fill! The management committee of the GLA met last night to appoint an Interim President. I am both sad due to the circumstances for the appointment and happy to accept this role for the balance of the 2010 season. I will endeavour to do the best job I can for all members of the GLA!
We have a very busy couple of weeks ahead of us! House League wraps up this Saturday (June 26th) with the Championship Day, July 2nd, 3rd and 4th is the Annual Ray Broadworth Memorial Tournament (30+ years strong)
and on the 6th of July we will be hosting the GLA annual party with t-shirt hand out, BB-Q and skills competitions. (see the home page for more details)
Specific to the Ray Broadworth Tournament, this is an excellent opportunity to get those volunteer hours in! If you played house league and are second year bantam or a midget, we can help you get up to 20 of your volunteer hours in a single weekend working the clock, shot clock or completing the score sheets! Please contact the VP tournament tournament@gloucester-lacrosse.com if you have time to help out on the 2nd, 3rd or 4th of July!
If you have any questions or concerns about the GLA or it's operation please feel free to contact me via e-mail:
president@gloucester-lacrosse.com If you want to have a conversation please include a phone number and a preferred time for call back in your e-mail.
Our organization is run by volunteers, we always welcome new people, ideas and suggestions. If you want to become part of the team please watch the G-news for announcements about the AGM and consider volunteering for the board of directors.
Laurent Gagnier,
GLA Interim President
