Breaking news about the girls Program from the president can be found here!
About the Program
The Gloucester Lacrosse Association, Zone 5, and the Ontario Lacrosse Association are working together to bring girls Box Lacrosse to the area. The GLA is looking to field 3 girls teams at the Peewee, Bantam and Midget levels. The age groups are the same as the boys except for the Midgets which will be 3 age levels, 15, 16 and 17 years old. Several other associations have expressed interest in fielding teams for the upcoming season. There are tournaments dedicated to girls only teams as well, which the GLA will be sending teams to compete in.
This sport would appeal to any girl looking for an opportunity to try something new that is not just fun but physically challenging as well, any female hockey players wanting to keep up the cardio, hand eye co-ordination, mental alertness and do not want to play Soccer or Volleyball. Some of you might say that you don’t want to try for fear of not being able to pass, catch, shoot and run with the ball. Not to worry since this is a new sport to girls the skill level will be pretty much the same for everyone. You will all be learning this great sport together.
In order to bring this to the GLA we are looking for head coaches for all 3 teams. The individual will be involved in the early stages of planning for GLA and for the zone league. This would be a great opportunity for anyone to be a part of this growing sport in Ontario.
If you wish to apply for one of these coaching positions or would like to get more information, please feel free to contact via email.
Thank you Stephane Collins
